It drags on

Warning: This post contains the hard truth. This is not for the faint of heart.

A burning passion for something or perhaps maybe even someone you love is an amazing thing. It can keep you going through the hard times and direct you to achieve the things that you want.

What people often forget is that, in reality,  passion is a fragile thing. You can push and push, but everything has its limits. When what you love does not love you back, you tend to retract inevitably. Talk about all those stories of heartbreak and broken dreams.

You need to stop living in a world full of dreams and fantasies. Walk away from the narcissistic self-perception your generation was taught. Chances are you’re not special. There are some things we just have to accept.

Sure there are success stories. Talk about Bill Gates and Steve Jobs who didn’t even finish college and are successful. They worked real hard for their success. No one gets handed success on a silver platter. You also have to consider that these people are the exception and not the rule.

Honestly, it’s too easy to get disheartened. What happens when the people you love do not love you back? What happens when the things you are passionate about are simply things you do not have any talent or skill for? Until when would you keep trying? Until when would you delude yourself into thinking things will get better if you work harder?

It’s really hard to draw the line between “not trying hard enough” and “just not for you”. Evaluate and re-evaluate.

Accepting something isn’t for you could help you discover what will give you real fulfilment.
